Frequently Asked Questions

We buy diamonds of all shapes, sizes, colors and clarity.

We buy signed jewelry such as Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier, David Webb, Buccellati, Tiffany & Co.

We buy unsigned fine jewelry of all genres and periods, including Art Deco, Retro, Mid-Century, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and modern, with the exception of modern costume jewelry.

We also buy American coins, silver, and objects d’art.

How Can I Be Sure I’m Getting the Best Price for My Pieces?

Our decades of collective experience and extensive knowledge translate into trustworthy valuations, and our global selling power affords immediate action and highest value given.

How and When do I Get Paid?

Payment rendered immediately upon agreement, and a check is drafted from JP Morgan Chase Palm Beach.  There also is the option of wire transfer on more significant purchases.

What if My Diamond does Not Have a Certificate?

Fabrikant & Miller are GIA-trained and have more than 40 years of experience grading stones for purchase, so it is not always necessary to have a GIA certificate.

Should my Pieces be Cleaned Before Bringing them In?

Please bring us your items in their original condition so that we may assess whether they would be of more value “as is”versus “polished.”

Do I Need a Box and Papers for my Piece?

Although it is not mandatory for watches to have original boxes and papers, it can make a significant difference in value, especially for more complicated watches, which should ideally accompany the piece, if possible.

Why Shouldn’t I Just Sell to a Retail Store?

Retail jewelry stores tend to focus on new items and often do not have the expertise or the capital to spend on second-hand market items.

What About Consigning With My Local Jeweler?

Consignment to a local jeweler is only beneficial to the jeweler, not to you.  A jeweler won’t have to put any money or marketing into helping you sell your items, however, they will take a hefty commission when they do sell.  This process can take a month, a year, or even years.

At Fabrikant & Miller, we offer immediate acquisition. Should you prefer consignment, our policy is a two-week resolution to actively pursue a buyer.

How do I Know You Wont Sell to Someone I Know?

We do our very best to place acquisitions in different markets from which we buy.
Discretion is a top priority for us.
